RESIDENCE PERMIT

The obligation to register for a residence permit applies to all students, regardless of their citizenship. The sole responsible governmental organization for residence permits is the Ministry of Interior, Directorate General of Migration Management. The website of the Directorate is https://en.goc.gov.tr/ All rules, regulations, and deadlines are set by the Directorate. The evaluation of the student files is made by the Directorate and the decision is given by them.
Based on the protocol signed between the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education and our Ministry, which entered into force on 29 November 2023; Higher education (associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate) students who apply for a student residence permit are required to submit the documents specified in the form together with the student residence permit registration form to the relevant unit (International Student Office) of the university that they are enrolled at as soon as possible, without waiting for the appointment date after applying for a student residence permit.
Foreigners who have made appointments twice within the last six months through the e-residence system and do not attend their appointments or cancel their appointments, will not be able to make new applications.

-Requested documents;
The required documents for residence permit application may differ from student to student because of their citizenship or special conditions. You may be asked by the Migration Office to submit further documents. However, basically, students are required to submit these documents;
Online Application form (printed and signed), Passport, Student Certificate, 4 biometric photos, valid health insurance, the receipt for the payment of residence permit card fee, and document of residence.
O After finishing your Online Application you need to go to the Migration Office and give your fingerprint with you Online Application Form Passport and your Student Certificate.
o If you are staying in your own home, a photocopy of the title deed;
o If you are staying in a rental house on a rental agreement, a notarized copy of your rental agreement;( The tenant and the owner must go to the notary together and obtain a certified document.)
o If you are staying at a hotel, etc document proving that you stay in these places and a receipt showing the payment for the entire period of your stay.
o If you are staying in a student dormitory, e-signed/signed and sealed/stamped document showing that you are staying in the dormitory.
o If you are staying in a third person’s residence, the notarized undertaking of the host (if the host is married, also the notarized undertaking of the spouse)
*The residence permit application process can be started for students who have completed the course registration process. Students who will planning to come to the country before the course registration date please take the situation into consideration.
