Erasmus+ Students Announcement of COVID-19

There is an intense mail traffic between YÖK, National Agency and Universities regarding the students who continue their education abroad regarding the coronavirus case. Based on the e-mails that we have received, we will try to summarize the situation below. We will contact you again about possible changes.

1)    Do I have to return from the country/Institution where I am now? What process should I follow after the possible return?
E-mail sent by the Turkish National Agency: “It is advisable for students who are already abroad to return to our country urgently, and this issue may be updated again as a result of the instructions from our Higher Education Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” The conclusion to be drawn from this sentence; although the students are advised to return to the country, the decision is currently left to the beneficiary.

T.R. Ministry of Health warns: “The academic-administrative staff and students who returned to Turkey from abroad should stay at home 14 days. If they do not show any indications of fever and cough at the end of the 14th day, then they can visit the university. For that reason, upon returning, you should not leave home and communicate with family members as much as possible.

2)    If I return to IKU within the scope of force majeure, what kind of path will be followed regarding course selections and exams?
If the students return to IKU, they will be enable to choose courses and exams.

3)    Erasmus+ Grant Issue
The student will be granted only for the period spent abroad. The students should refund the grant for the rest of the months/days.

4)    Return Flight Ticket Fee

If the flight ticket (economy class) is submitted by the students to the International Office, the payment will be made. (Only the difference of the return ticket or the new one way return ticket fare can be reimbursed)

5)    Can I transfer my beneficiary right to the next year?
The beneficiary right cannot be transferred to the next year. However, since the mobility is terminated/canceled due to force majeure, there will be no point deduction for the next possible Erasmus applications.
